At yesterday’s meeting I saw the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, absolutely calm and composed, completely indifferent to Yankee threats, confident in his people’s capacity to confront any aggression and in the efficacy of Iran’s arms, which are in large part produced by Iranians themselves, for the purpose of imposing on aggressors an impossibly high cost.
In fact, he hardly spoke about the topic of war. His mind was concentrated on the ideas he expressed at the Aula Magna auditorium of the University of Havana, centered on the struggle for humanity: “to take steps to arrive at and achieve peace, security, respect, and human dignity as a desire of all human beings throughout history.”
I am certain that Iran will not take any thoughtless actions that may contribute to an outbreak of war. If a war inevitably breaks out, it will be due solely to the congenital adventurism and irresponsibility of the Yankee empire.
