The Democratic Party insiders who dominate the Federation and many of its unions–the same forces who quickly condemned Kelber’s age as the primary reason to ignore and even attack him–will all compete energetically to prove their politically correct credentials and strict loyalty to identity politics.

Much of organized labor in the United States seems to go merrily on its way as we enter the second year of Trump’s second term. Many unions are dutifully hiding in the weeds and still hoping to go unnoticed.

As always with the IU question, the new situation might cement further the unity between the U.S. and Canadian sections of an IU union, or may dissolve it once and for all.
