With the AI “revolution” coming for our jobs, our creativity, our politics, our environment, and just about anything else you’d care to think of, it is heartening to see an emerging critique of the shameless boosterism characteristic of so much discussion of the technology.

In early December, last year, the Indonesian government legislated a new criminal code to replace the old code that the country inherited from its past colonial oppressor, the Dutch. The government has claimed that the legislation of the new criminal code was an effort to “decolonize” Indonesia’s criminal justice system from the legacy of the Dutch East Indies colonial era.

The last economic crisis in Canada saw an intense and sustained attack on public services and welfare programs that disabled people require to live life.
