Venezuelan Government Condemns Bombing of Libya’s State Television

Communiqué

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Comandante Hugo Chávez, in the name of the Venezuelan people and government, categorically condemns the illegal bombing perpetrated on Saturday, 30 July 2011 by the NATO military forces against the installations of the Jamahiriya, the Libyan state television.

This barbaric act of the NATO constitutes the cruelest demonstration of the hypocrisy of the imperialist powers that are now conducting an open war against the Libyan people, killing journalists and destroying communication media, in the name of the supposed defense of human rights.  With this new crime, the NATO has done again what it first did with the bombing of Radio Television Serbia on 23 April 1999, becoming the only military alliance of our time that has systematically targeted media professionals in war.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela reiterates its demand for an immediate end to the illegal military aggression against Libya and an opening of an opportunity to achieve a peaceful solution to the internal conflict in the brother African nation of Libya, by means of dialogue and negotiation, preserving Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
