In April, Trump unveiled an executive order titled “Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens” that hands sweeping new powers to police, guts hard-won reforms and punishes cities that refuse to fall in line.

In a barrage of executive orders issued last week, including one late Monday afternoon targeting so-called “sanctuary” cities, President Donald Trump launched a naked attack on the democratic rights of immigrants and the working class as a whole.

The executive order is chillingly titled “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” It declares that the Smithsonian, once a symbol of “American excellence,” has become tainted by narratives that portray “American and Western values as inherently harmful and oppressive.”

Trump signed an executive order declaring all state laws that address climate change to be null and void.

The executive order “directs implementation of a next-generation missile defense shield for the United States against ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missile, and other next-generation aerial attacks.”

The new Executive Order comes during a period of rising migration across the hemisphere.
