Annual Fundraising Drive: Reinforcing the Left and Reclaiming the Future with MR

Monthly Review has been on the frontline of the battle for a better world for almost 60 years.  As an openly socialist publication, MR has consistently challenged the forces of reaction at home and abroad with critical political analyses that offer alternatives to a system that survives by killing hope.  Every issue of the magazine offers fresh political insights while the online archive provides a compendium of landmark essays (see www.monthlyreview.org for the current issue).

Monthly Review Press, an allied venture, publishes books that offer in-depth analyses of important global and national issues.  Current MR book offerings range from Eduardo Galeano’s timeless The Open Veins of Latin America to recent instant classics like Inside Lebanon: Journey to a Shattered Land with Noam and Carol Chomsky edited by Assaf Kfoury and The Liberal Virus: Permanent War and the Americanization of the World by Samir Amin.  MR Press has published over 30 books that occupy considerable space on the shelves of public and academic libraries as well as on the bookshelves of activists and scholars worldwide.  (Visit www.monthlyreview.org/books/index.php for a current catalog.)

MRZine.org is the Monthly Review Foundation’s Internet project (www.MRZine.org).  As an open forum, the webzine features insightful political analyses and cultural critiques from around the world, while the format of the site stimulates online discussion and debate.  MRZine allows activists and intellectuals to contribute directly to a growing progressive political culture and provides a contact point for the formation of new political networks.

MR is a survivor and has always been a beacon of hope in dark times.  It survived direct attacks on its editors during the Cold War, provided a critical forum for the anti-imperialist and liberation struggles of the 1960s and 70s, and supplied correct and consistent analysis of the neoliberal assault on working people and the environment at home and around the world from the early 80s through the beginning of the 21st century.

While MR writers are unpaid volunteers, the foundation needs funds to continue its work.  The stakes have never been higher — globally neoconservatism is in crisis, but it is scrambling to rally its forces and shore up its power.  Independent socialist analysis has never been more important than it is right now.

Help fund the good fight.  By contributing to MR, you help reinforce the left and reclaim the future.
