Shirin Neshat is an Iranian-American visual artist.  Women without Men (based on the novel Women without Men by Shahrnush Parsipur), Neshat’s first feature film, won her the Silver Lion for best director at the 66th Venice Film Festival.  Hamid Dabashi is Hagop Kevorkian Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at Columbia University; his latest books Islamic Liberation Theology: Resisting the Empire and Post-Orientalism: Knowledge and Power in Time of Terror were published in 2008.  This is the first episode of The Week in Green with Hamid Dabashi.
