America’s universities are on fire.

Behind the efforts of the powerful to unleash chaos against students protesting for Palestine.

More than 2,700 protesters have been arrested on 64 college campuses since the initial arrests at Columbia University in New York on April 18. Encampments have appeared at 184 campuses worldwide.

Representatives of Cuban LGBTI activism and friends from other countries joined the parade calling for “All rights for all people”, organized by the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex) as part of the Cuban Days against Homophobia and Transphobia, May 3-18.

An emerging complaint the corporate media have against the nationwide—and now international—peace encampments is that many student protesters won’t speak to them.

American rapper Macklemore has released a single titled “Hind’s Hall”, the name given to Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall by anti-genocide protesters in honor of the six year-old Hind Rajab who was murdered in Gaza by Israeli forces.

As peace activists occupied common spaces on campuses across the country, some in corporate media very clearly took sides, portraying student protesters as violent, hateful and/or stupid. CNN offered some of the most striking of these characterizations.

Liberal MP Anthony Housefather is clamoring for the violent suppression of McGill students protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. It is an odious escalation in the Israel lobby’s bid to suppress democracy at the prestigious university.

To rebel is justified. Palestine must be free! Palestine will be free!

Echoing President Biden, Netanyahu labeled the demonstrations ‘antisemitic’.

Mikayla Tillery reviews Kevin Okoth’s Red Africa: Reclaiming Revolutionary Black Politics. As a founding member of the group, Braithwaite explains that though Rodney was betrayed, then assassinated, his body destroyed and concerted efforts made to tarnish his record, people around the world continue to develop and build on his immense legacy.

“[M]en stand again, just as unified, ready to sacrifice their bodies, health, and life to achieve what has already been hard fought for and accomplished. Why must California prisoners continue to sacrifice health and life, involve lawyers and courts, in order to be treated like human beings? We will continue to remind CDCR officials they will be held accountable for this type of treatment.”
