Georgian Crisis: Vis-à-vis Russia, 56% of the French in Favor of Compromise

EXCLUSIVE POLL.  As the crisis between Russia and Georgia intensifies, 56% of the French want France to seek compromise with Moscow, according to a CSA-Le ParisienAujourd’hui en France poll to appear in the Saturday edition.

Asked about the position to adopt towards Russia, only 27% advocate a hard-line position after Russian President Dmitri Medvedev’s declaration that he is “not afraid of a new Cold War.”

On the Left, 62% favor a compromise solution.  On the right, 52% do.

Exclusive poll by the CSA institute for Le Parisien and Aujourd’hui en France, conducted on 27 August 2008, with a representative national quota sample of 801 individuals aged 18 or older.
