Vietnam’s death toll from COVID-19 has stood at 35 since last September, and none of those hospitalized due to this disease risks death, the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday.
Almost a year after the entrance of COVID-19, the country reports 1,514 cases, of which 90 percent have recovered and 25 tested negative in at least one SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus detection test, a virus which causes the disease.
Among nations with over 70 million inhabitants (Vietnam has 97 million), this is the one with better case rates and death tolls per million, with 15 and 0.4, respectively.
Most cases reported in the country are imported. Some 80,000 citizens returned in over 280 air operations. The other people authorized to enter the country are diplomats, investors, and experts in the implementation of important economic projects.
In Vietnam, the only visible signs of the prensence of COVID-19 are face masks in public. The country is entering a ‘new normal’ phase day by day consisting of reviving the economy and social life in general.
Meanwhile, research on four national vaccines against the disease is advancing, two of which are already being tried in humans with successful results.
